Ta Xua peak: Yen Bai

Ta Xua Peak is in the list of 15 highest mountain peaks in Vietnam, known as the “Dinosaurs Backbone” and is one of the most beautiful sea of clouds heavens in the Northwest.
Ta Xua mountain is the natural boundary between Yen Bai and Son La, with three peaks forming an extremely majestic wonder. The highest point is where the Vietnamese flagpole is erected at an altitude of 2,865m, at the second peak, there are some traces of the old flagpole which was built during the French colonial period.
Starting from Ta Xua village (Ban Cong commune, Tram Tau district, Yen Bai), about 7km from the district center, and there is only one unique small trail to the highest peak of 2,865m with a very steep slope. This is not an easy challenge to overcome for anyone who wants to stand on top of this mountain.

The tour departs every Thursday evening with the group of minimum 9 pax and maximum 15 pax. In case you need a private tour, Simple Backpackers are pleased to serve all your needs with the demand of flexible time.

Departure (at night)

18h30 Pick up at My Dinh bus station in Hanoi. Tour guides help you find your seats and arrange the luggage.
19h00 Departure

1^st day

MORNING

Arrive Tram Tau and receive your luggage. Then check-in hotel and rest
Enjoy breakfast at Tram Tau and learn trip’s policies
Transfer to Ban Cong commune (about 7km far from Tram Tau) with 3km offroad by local motobike
Start the trek to Ta Xua peak

AFTERNOON

Have lunch & take a short nap
Continue the trek through the forest and step on steep slopes
Arrive the campsite. Relax and bathing

EVENING

A warm dinner near the wood stove with BBQ and warm wine.
Take deep rest

2^ndday

MORNING

Wake up in the early morning, enjoy warm breakfast and breathe the fresh cool air
Start the second day trek with light backpack and pass the Dinosaur Backbone, the main highlight of the trip, and enjoy the majestic mountain scenery here.

AFTERNOON

Have lunch and continue the journey to the top. Go through the forest with ancient trees covered with moss (like in a fairytale forest)
Celebrate the moments on the top of Ta Xua with cheers and photos.
Go back to the campsite

EVENING

Enjoy warm dinner and share feeling together
Take deep rest

3^rdday

MORNING

Wake up. Have breakfast, sip early hot tea | coffee
Start the third day trek and move down the mount
Transfer back to Tram Tau. Time for bathing and relaxing after a long trip

AFTERNOON

Enjoy a small party with Northwest special food and celebrate the wonderful moments.
Depart from Tram Tau back to Hanoi.

EVENING

The bus will arrive at Hanoi around 8:45PM the same day, depending on the actual traffic situation.

Preparation Checklist

Hygiene, Restrooms & Bathing Facilities

At our campsites, we provide private, portable restroom and changing tents for your convenience. Due to the nature of wilderness exploration, bathing options depend on the location:

Riverside Campsites: You can enjoy refreshing baths in natural streams.
Other Locations: Water supplies may be limited. In these cases, we provide sufficient water for basic hygiene, and we recommend using "dry bath" methods (wet wipes or specialized dry shampoos) to stay refreshed.

How is waste managed during the tour?

Waste is sorted and processed appropriately at our campsites. Throughout the trek, we kindly ask that you do not litter and keep all non-biodegradable waste with you. You can hand this over to the Xanh Travel team at the campsite or at the end of the journey for proper disposal. We are committed to keeping the wilderness pristine.

What is the minimum age for children to join the tour?

Our tours involve long-distance trekking throughout the day; therefore, the minimum age for children to participate is 6 years old. It is mandatory for children to be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, and all participants must strictly follow the instructions provided by the tour leader at all times.

Will there be mobile phone reception?

Most of our jungle tours take place in areas with little to no mobile reception, or a very weak signal. We encourage you to embrace this as a gift to yourself—a chance to "disconnect to reconnect" and truly immerse yourself in the beauty of nature!

Is there electricity available to charge mobile phones?

Most of our campsites are located deep within the forest and do not have power sources. Therefore, we recommend bringing a portable power bank to recharge your electronic devices if needed. Rest assured, we provide sufficient night-time lighting at the campsite using our pre-installed LED systems.

I am a vegetarian. What will my meals be like?

We offer a dedicated menu for vegetarians and those with specific dietary requirements. Please inform our customer service team or note your preferences in your tour confirmation email regarding your vegetarian diet or any food allergies/restrictions you may have.
